Approved in August 2023, this exciting initiative features two private operators: Scarborough Beach Hire and Mobile Lockers Australia. They offer everything from umbrellas and lounge chairs for hire to secure storage lockers.

Scarborough Beach Hire provides beachgoers with the essentials, operating from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM seven days a week during summer school holidays and on weekends during the school term. On the other hand, Mobile Lockers Australia offers hourly and daily rental options in various sizes, with operating hours from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, seven days a week.

Mayor Mark Irwin expressed excitement about the convenience these services bring to locals and tourists alike. He emphasized that Scarborough Beach, one of Western Australia’s iconic destinations, will become even more accessible and sun-smart.

Visitors can now enjoy the beach without the hassle of transporting equipment, and the availability of shade options aligns with sun-smart practices. Cancer Council WA SunSmart Manager Sally Blane praised the initiative for providing sun protection, particularly in a region where UV levels can be extreme.

These services are strategically located near the Scarborough Amphitheatre entrance. User feedback will play a crucial role in shaping the trial’s future.

Starting Point and Trail Length:

Begin your exploration of the Scarborough-Trigg Heritage Trail at the Scarborough Beach Foreshore. From here, you have the flexibility to choose your desired loop or combine them for a more extensive adventure. The total trail length is approximately 7.5 kilometers, which can be completed in about 2 hours.

Be prepared to capture stunning sights along the way, so have your cameras ready!

Trigg Coastal Loop – Blue Loop: 2.9km or 3.9km (1 Hour)

This loop starts from the northern end of the Scarborough Coastal car park and heads north toward Trigg. The trail follows a shared-use path, so be aware of cyclists traveling at varying speeds. Along the way, you’ll pass Bindi’s Lookout and have the option to divert to the beach or continue along West Coast Highway. The loop can be completed in about 1/2 hours.

Activity: If you decide to trail along the beach try to find the most unique shell and compare it with your friends and/or family. you can then turn this into a necklace or keep it as a memory.

Tip: If it is a nice day make sure you pack your bathers and have a quick dip!

Trigg Bushland Loop – Green Loop: 3.2km (1 Hour)

Opposite the car park south of Trigg Surf Lifesaving Club, you’ll find the entrance to the Trigg Bushland Loop. The trail begins with a steep hill climb, rewarding you with coastal views. It then winds through coastal shrubland, crosses underneath West Coast Highway via an underpass, and emerges near St Mary’s Anglican School on Elliott Road. Follow the trail through beautiful woodlands and keep an eye out for the Cottage Ruins. The loop takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

Activity: Along this trail try and find the two graffitied old water tanks!

Tip: When you reach the top of the hill look to see if you can spot Rottnest Island.

Scarborough Coastal Loop – Red Loop: 1.2km (45 minutes)

The Scarborough Coastal Loop starts at the Scarborough Foreshore, near the Time Capsule. This loop takes you along the upper and lower walkways of the foreshore, passing notable landmarks such as the Scarborough Amphitheatre and the Watch Over You statues. Enjoy the beautiful beach views and encounter the memorial to the 1916 drowning victims. As you continue, appreciate the Ethereal Welcome Hand statue and the Weaving of Stories shade sails. Don’t miss the Snake Pit skate park, Sunset Hill, and the Whale Playground. The loop can be completed in about 45 minutes.

Activity: Find the 5 hidden episodes of the captivating story of the missing children and the enigmatic spirit woman, Tjunta!

Tip: Pack a rug and food for after the loop to watch the Scarborough sunset, or indulge at one of the delicious nearby restaurants.

Along the Trail:

During your journey along the Scarborough-Trigg Heritage Trail, you’ll encounter numerous points of interest and natural attractions. These include heritage markers, traditional playgrounds, picnic facilities, and stunning coastal views. Take your time to appreciate the surroundings, pause for a picnic or a coffee break at one of the nearby cafes, and enjoy the public art installations that add a vibrant touch to the trail.
