Scarborough Beach is gearing up to host the biggest event on the country’s surf lifesaving calendar, as The Aussies return to Western Australia; a competition that promises to be the ultimate surf lifesaving showdown!
The nine-day, Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, ‘The Aussies’, will see more than 5,000 contenders from across the nation compete in over 480 exhilarating events between Saturday, 25 March to Sunday, 2 April 2023.
Members of all 314 Australian Surf Life Saving Clubs will meet in various beach and ocean events, across three age championships – Youth, master’s and Open – demonstrating their rescue ready skills in both individual and team competitions, guaranteed to provide non-stop excitement and entertainment for spectators and participants alike.
The return of this competition to Scarborough Beach is a huge boost for WA tourism and will showcase the beach as one of the State’s premiere coastal locations.
It’s expected more than 8,500 interstate and overseas visitors will flock to Scarborough for the event, which previously generated more than $15 million in the local economy in 2018 when last held in WA. West Australian’s are encouraged to join the action-packed, family-friendly competition with a stunning scenery backdrop.
